Success after IF

What is after Clomid?

I did three rounds of Clomid and did an u/s after each. I didn't ovulate either of the times... :( I just did a HSG test, which came back good. My hubby is getting a s/a this week and then we see a specailist the first part of March. My question is this... Can someone who has been in this situation shed some light on what happens next?? Do they give you shots? Different meds?  Procedures?

Thanks!

Re: What is after Clomid?

  • The same thing happened to me.  I was responding to the Clomid but not ovulating, so my RE gave me trigger shots to make me o.  Basically I went in for my u/s to confirm that my follies were big enough.  The first time they were so my RE gave me the shot in the office and told me to have TI about 36 hours after the shot.  We had a bfn that cycle.  The next cycle (fifth on clomid and 2nd with the trigger) my follies weren't ready, so I waited a day and then had the trigger.  That was our bfp and sticky baby cycle.  Good luck to you!

  • I guess depending on what the SA comes back as- you'll move forward from there. In my case (I didn't O on clomid alone) my RE put me on 2000mg of Metformin and 150mg of clomid.  That got us our BFP :)  If I hadn't O'd on that cycle, he would've put me on follistim which has a much higer rate of people ovulating.  (Those are injections) I'd think if everything came back normal with the SA, you'd move onto something like that. Good luck!!!
  • my RE's protocol is this:

    -3 cycles of clomid/IUI

    -3 cycles of injectables/IUI

    -IVF

He feels if after 3 cycls of clomid or femera it doesn't work the chances of it working are slim- and you can do damage to your uterine lining if using clomid too much.... so he moves to injectables and IUI... etc.

what dose of clomid did you do?  Def. see an RE - not an OB.... you should have never been put on clomid without first having an HSG and SA done - b/c no amount of clomid will get a woman pg who has blocked tubes, or a DH with a male factor issue... it's sad that OBs just give it out like that.

    best of luck to you!!

  • Your baby is beautiful!  And I love her name :)

Thanks for responding.  It's been sssooo frustrating, but I am glad to know that there is still lots of hope!

  • Congrats on your pregnancy!

I am on the Metformin too,and have PCOS as well.  It's nice to know that it happened to people with the same problems I have.

    Thanks for your comments!
