I've tried doing crafts a few times when we have hosted platdates but it ends up being the moms sitting around doing the crafts while the kids play. If you want to do something crafty maybe have some stuff so they could make valentines for their dads or grandparents?
Maybe one "craft" and then the rest free play. I'd do something simple like making neclaces by stringing dried rigatoni noodles on a string. Also, my DS loves to scoop dried lentils or beans in a big container with measuring cups, spoons, etc.. Even just stickers is fun for DS and keeps him occupied for awhile.
