***MarchMom06 - you here?***

I posted the other day about PT and I think I do have the same problem you have/had.  The therapist said my right shoulder is totally pulled forward and my neck muscles are very strained on that side.

Anyway, did PT work for you and how long did it take before you felt better?  Also, did you go through regular madical insurance or did you try to pursue workers' comp since it was work-related?  I am just paying on my regular medical insurance, but someone said I should try to go through WC because I have a $40 co-pay every time I go to PT (3 times a week) and I have to pay 100% of my x-rays and MRI (if I get one), since I haven't met my deductible yet.  It's going to be a lot of $$$.

Re: ***MarchMom06 - you here?***

  • Hi there!

Sounds like the same issue. My PT first thought it was my neck from straining to mouse, type, etc. Now she's discovered how far rotated my right shoulder is (almost fully dislocated, but yet the muscles are now in place like that, so it's very difficult to get it to go back - you have to retrain the muscles), which is straining the neck muscles.

PT is working, but it's painful. I've only gone 8 times, which sounds like a lot, but I think it takes time to undo the damage, so I'm not sure how long I'll be going for. I just start noticing a marked improvement last week (so, after a month of going 2-3x/week.)

I went through my regular insurance because I have full coverage (no co-pay, no deductible, no out of pocket), but I think the argument could easily be made that this is work related.

    Good luck!!

  • Ouch - that sounds worse than my neck/shoulder issue.  I've only gone twice to PT so far and the first time was really just an evaluation so yesterday was the first day of exercises, ultrasound, etc.  I am so sore today.

I'm afraid to try to pursue WC, because heads are rolling around here and I don't want to make any waves.  But the PT did say he thought it was from straining to see my computer and using the mouse.  I'm an accountant so I am at a PC all.day.long and we just got through our busy season, which is why it is so much worse now than it was.

But this will easily cost me $800 out of pocket so I hate to just keep my mouth shut.

Glad your PT is working and hope you are 100% soon!
