I considered my son EBF until we introduced food. I pumped when I returned to work 8 weeks pp. but never used used formula so he was EBF, but I consider food a supplement and would no longer say he's exclusively BF.
Well, my lactation consultant did a double take when I told her that dd was exclusively breast-fed (at 10 months). When I clarified that she was in fact on solids and drank water from a cup, and had been for several months, she politely informed me that EBF means just that: exclusively breast-fed. Exclusive of any other food source, including solids and formula, and exclusive of any other manner of feeding, including a cup or bottle.
However, most LC's and pedi's would agree that EBF can mean "exclusively breastmilk fed," meaning that the child takes expressed milk from a bottle or cup. It's not a "competitive" thing, or even a "picky" thing--it's for the sake of clarity so you are communicating exactly what your baby is eating, and how she receives it. This can be very important in some cases.
But for the purposes of something informal, like this board, most people use it to mean "no formula."
Re: Does EBF mean no solids / no pumping?
To me it means no forumla; only BM (by breast or pumped into a bottle), and I include solids in that as well.
My DD has been EBF for 1 year, but I did pump the occasional bottle for her and she is eating solids.
