Re: Anyone thinking about Labor already??

  • Of course I am thinking about it. I'm preparing for it by taking a Hypnobirthing class.

  • This is my first, and that's probably why I'm freaking out about labor already.  I think about it nearly every day, and have been for a few weeks now.  I'm petrified of the epidural, episiotomy, stitches, and... worst of all... the CATHETER (I have interstitial cystitis and the idea of anything entering my urethra sends me into a panic)...  I know this is stupid logic, because the contractions are the painful part, not all that other stuff.  At least my OB knows this, and has stated that he'll note that the anesthesiologist should not administer the epidural until after I've received Demerol... ugh.

  • Yes, that is the main thing on my mind these days- because there is no way around it. The whole thing worries me, from people staring at my cooly to dealing with obnoxious relatives, to stitches and tears. Ugh. But then I look around, everyone got here somehow so it must turn out OK in the end, right???

  • Yes, and for some reason I am so anxious to meet this little one that I'm not as worried as I was pre-pg.  I'll check in again in a month...I'm sure I'll be singing a different tune!

Have you thought about talking to someone about these fears? Going in to labor with so much on your mine could make for a miserable experience. I think working on shedding that fear would do wonders for you.

  • Of course I think about it too.  It is fear of the unknown because it's my first.  My friend is a labor and delivery nurse and I am always asking her questions.  Everyone is different so I just have to learn to think positively and know that DH will help me through it as best he can.  Lord help him!  Stick out tongue

  • Most definetly! Everytime I get in the carr with DH I take my WTEWYE book and read through that section cringing! I'm scared to death of it- but I guess this baby has to come out one way or another!
  • I've been watching the baby shows on TLC and Discovery Health. BIG mistake, they're making me nervous! That epidural needle looks scary!! And I am not all about waiting until I'm 4cm or whatever. When I'm in pain, I want relief! I'm such a baby. My neighbor is a nurse and she said that the dilation limit is a doctor preference thing, so I just gotta let my doc know I want is ASAP! LoL.

  • im sure that everyone is feeling the same way but i cant help but think of those great thing DRUGS!!!!  my friend was pushing her baby out and playing with her tougne in the process... it was so funny! she didn't feel a thing...
  • I think because I've been through it before and know what to expect, I end up thinking about it all the time and "reliving" the first time.  I'm still scared of the epidural needle and the episiotomy (although it didn't end up being that bad).  I'm still planning not to have an epidural - I didn't have one last time and know that I can do it.  And, I'm really hoping that I won't NEED an episiotomy again.   Just remember that you can do it and that whatever happens will be fine because you are in the hands of professionals:)  GL!
  • I am!  My sister had a baby last week and I heard a woman screaming and it made me start crying and freaking out.  So yes, I am thinking about labor already.

  • I think about it, but I'm not worried about it just yet. I know that I will later though!
  • I am a worrier as well... we did sign up for 8 weeks of these classes at the hospital and they go over different subjects one week. one is labor & delivery; pain managment during labor, etc... so I'm hoping that will help ease my fears/anxiety. We also plan to attend lamaze so I hope all that education will shed some light on the whole thing.

It still scares me to death! But like PP said, look at all the other women who have gone through it... its doable!
