how we announced the sex (PIP)

When I was on this board with DS, this was a very popular way to announce the sex.  I have not seen it mentioned at all, so I thought you guys would like an idea.  I made this cake and had my parents over for dessert.  They knew the inside of the cake was their surprise and I had my mom cut the cake:

What a perfect time to announce!  And a perfect way to celebrate with a cake!

I just used a box cake mix and the frosting is one that my mom has used my whole life:

2 cups shortening
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 cups powdered/confectioner's sugar
1/2 cup margarine, softened
3 teaspoons vanilla

Mix together all ingredients except 4 cups sugar.  Add sugar gradually.

I used the same frosting for the center and the piping, just colored it with food coloring.  The pink and blue M&M's came from a party store.
