You here? I've been trying to "catch" you on the boards somewhere. I posted on P&F looking for you. (I hope you remember me....I have a golden retriever named Tess and used to be on P&F all the time. My DD Kate is now 21 months old).
Anyway, I happened to see a post about your DD's gross motor delays a while ago and I wanted to tell you our experience with Kate who had some similar issues (no pulling up until 14+ months, late crawler, late transitions from sitting to crawl, laying to sitting) and was in EI from 3-11 months and then private PT from 14-18 months. She's 21 months and is almost totally caught up now! Page me on Parenting if you see this. Hope you, your pets, and your DD are all doing well.
Re: ***ebb7***
Hey lady! Thanks for the page. I remember when Kate was having her issues...glad to hear she's doing great! (And I see you're having another little one! Congrats!!!)
We had our prework with EI yesterday and we get our evaluation next Monday. I feel really good about it and DH seems to be coming around. I'm just eager to get DD caught up (she was diagnosed at 9 months with horrendous gastro issues and that's a big reason why she's behind...she literally couldn't think about anything else for months). I have no doubt that she'll benefit so much from EI. I really wish we had started sooner.
The pups are doing great. Turtle and DD are the best of friends. I've really never seen anything like it!
I am so sorry for the gastro issues....what a nightmare for you and for her. We had SO many scares with Kate in the first year of her life (evaluations with neurosurgery, neurology, opthamology, physical therapy, torticollis, etc etc etc) but she is 100% fine and looks like every other 21 month old now. I hope the same can be true for Hayden!!
I found the EI to be helpful for me as well as for her. It was reassuring to me to know that I was doing everything possible to help her catch up and once we started I just relaxed completely because I knew we were being watched/helped and I was doing all I could do.
Anyway, Kate did not pull to stand until 14+ months, and then learned to walk in ONE DAY (first steps on a Friday, full time walker by Sunday) at 18 months. It was frustrating sometimes to see her so behind, but so very wonderful the day she walked! She now runs, climbs, etc and it is SO gratifying to see.
I just wanted to share our story in hopes that it is reassuring/helpful. I know how hard it is to see your child "behind" and to hear that they need EI or extra help.
And thanks for the congats on the pg. They will be 23 months apart--YIKES.
Here's a PIP of Kate and Tess, also BFFs like Turtle and Hayden.
