Pregnant after a Loss

need opinions: last minute name change (long)

to make a long story short, dh and i had major troubles finding a middle name for alexis.  i really loved ryann but he said no way and i didn't argue it.  deep down i didn't want to give the name up but at the same time i want her to have a name that dh loves too.  after throwing around a ton of names we decided on rose.  not my fave and not dh's fave but it's the only thing we could agree on.

well ever since i picked ryann i can't get it out of my head.  it's all i think about.  when people ask me her name i say "well i really wanted alexis ryann but we didn't agree on it so it's alexis rose."  so tonight i asked dh what he would do if i just changed it to ryann on the paperwork and he found out once her birth certificate came in the mail.  he said he had been thinking about it too and if i really want her mn to be ryann then he is completely ok with it, that he didn't like rose anyway.

i know deep in my heart that i will most likely change it and just explain the story to everyone but wwyd?  and which do you like better...alexis ryann or alexis rose?  TIA

  • I vote for Alexis Ryann. Everyone's middle name is Rose.

  • I agree with the pp, everyone's middle name is Rose.  I have a girl in my daycare whose mn is Rose and says "my middle name is a flower" like EVERY DAY.  She's 7 and should know EVERYONE knows her mn by now.  That turned me off from Rose, lol.

  • Ryann.  I think it sounds better w/ Alexis than Rose does.

  • To me, this is an absolute no brainer.  Her name is Alexis Ryann. :)  (I know what you mean about getting your heart just set on a name.)
  • I really like Alexis Ryann.  Is it pronounced "Ryan" like the boys' name, or Ree-Ann?  Either way, I like it better than Rose--and that is a family name of ours!  DD was almost Mia Rose but DH nixed it: No flower names, he asked.  Plus, I think it will be the "Ann", "Lynn", "Marie" of our generation--i.e. very common middle name.

So my vote is for Ryann.
