watch an item until the last minute (literally) then start refreshing the page constantly...about 30 seconds left put in your bid...refresh constantly and if you have to bid again do it fast...It is tough...but I've won a few things...

This is exactly what I do. It sucks when someone steals it from you at the last minute, but it feels so good to do it to someone else, LOL. I wonder how many nesties/bumpies(??) bid on the same items on ebay.

Ditto... this is how I win... on occasion, I have lost to another sniper ;-) who butts in at the last 30 or 40 seconds!
If you absolutely have to have something, you can bid early and high if needed, but that just drives up the purchase price!
I must admit that I bid higher on a few things just to urk the other bidder...like there were some cute twin girl outfits from one seller Summer 0-3 months...I ended up bidding to annoy whoever was bidding against me...it's a sick game...lol
Really know the max price you want to pay and enter it as your highest bid (fill in prompt after your initial bid). ?If you're not sure about your highest bid and are willing to go more then keep an eye on the item like pp's have mentioned. ?I've never lost anything that I really wanted.
Another trick I forgot to mention, that's particularly important if you're using the last minute "sniping" method, is to not enter an even number for your max bid.
If you'd be willing to pay $15.00, put $15.01 (or something like that) instead, in case someone else entered the same exact max bid.
Place a bid, but not necessarily the highest you would go, then watch the item during the last few min. and bid if you are outbid. Make sure you are still getting a good deal after shipping... some sellers take advantage of bidders who don't look at the shipping price.
