Steelers Flags and other nonsensical stuff

so my neighbor hangs a big ol Pittsburgh Steelers flag outside his front door yesterday. He has never displayed anything Steelers related in the 2.5 years we've been neighbors. (we live in New England, btw) What does this flag mean? 

a. I have always been a big Steelers fan, but never willing to showcase the fact until they won the Superbowl. Now I want bask in the meaningless reflected glory.

b. The Steelers are winners; I'm a winner too, and to make sure people are aware of this, I will hang a Steeler flag on my house.

c. The exterior of my home is drab and needs a little something to spice it up This black and gold flag with the Steelers logo on it is just the thing to add some curb appeal, especially since the Steelers just won the Superbowl. . .

along the same lines I do not understand why people wear team jerseys around in their daily life - especially ones that have a players name on the back. Do you wish you were this person, or just related to this person, or that others will somehow think you have something to do with the success of this person?

Why don't you wear a T-shirt with the your IQ printed on it? Or how about one with a list of your hobbies - something that actively pertains to you.

I know what I'm going to do. The next time I see my neighbor outside his house, I am going to go up to him and say, "hey man, are YOU a Steelers fan!? (it will never occur to him to give me a smartass reply like I deserve)

He will say something like, "You better believe it!"

And then I will l say exactly what he wants to hear: "That is so cool, you are awesome!"

and he will really like me.

ok, as usual I am talking to myself here, and my 2 yr old is up my ass completely b/c mommy is not responding to her in the manner to which she is accustomed, and my 6 month old just spit up all over the bed, so it's back to the fabulous life for me. . .
