WDYT of this crib mobile?

I need some opinions on this crib mobile, please

I really love this the way this mobile looks.  And would love to make one like it for our baby #2.  However, we dont know if we are having another boy or a girl.  If it was made with more boyish, bolder colors could it look boyish?  Or, is it just too girly of a design to alter for a boy?  I hope this makes sense.  I am just looking for more opinions, since I know mine is biased.

Re: WDYT of this crib mobile?

  • personally I think it is very girly looking and I wouldn't do that for a boys room.  For a boy you could do a cool airplane or a couple of planes at different heights from the ceiling, but I would wait and see what you have before deciding.
  • I know yellow is supposed to be unisex but to man it up a bit I would change the color of the bird and try to shape more hard angles rather than soft curves.  It won't be easy but you can do it!

  • It's really pretty! I'd have to see it altered for a boy to decide if it was too girly, though. My only worry would be, what if it fell on the baby?

  • I think it is very girly.  But, more than that, I don't think it is very baby-ish - ie, I don't know that a baby would like looking at it.

ETA: I don't think it is very interesting for a baby to look at.

  • Okay I totally thought you were joking.  If not, ignore my response.

  • ditto j*w*

    It's pretty, but I don't think it's very baby-ish. ?

  • If you could make it look more like natural branches instead of dripping with crystals, that would be the only way (IMO) that it would be boyish.  And do an owl instead.  That could be cool.

If you did that, then maybe twist some red & amber crystals into it.

  • I think it's too girly for a boy. I do think it's beautiful thought.
  • i think choking hazard.

    that's my first reaction

  • I'm coming in late here, so hope you still see this.  My first response was 'choking hazard,' but I suppose if you hang it high enough it would be ok.  I think it's pretty for a girl, but not so much for a boy.  Maybe you could use something similar to marbles for a boy, though, with airplanes or something?
