2nd Trimester

Has anyone had maternity pants altered?

I bought a gorgeous pair of jeans at the end of my first tri and I love them. But, as my belly gets bigger, they aren't comfortable any more (they are under-belly band and the band is too tight and unflexible). I thought about buying an extra bella-band and taking it to the tailor to have them swap the bands. I wonder how well this would work, and how much they would charge for something like that. The jeans were on the expensive side, so no matter what they charge it has to be better than buying a new pair with a different band.....

Re: Has anyone had maternity pants altered?

  • I haven't but I wondered the same thing about taking a regular pair of my old jeans and having them altered to be maternity jeans...  Let me know if you find anything out.

  • I imagine it wouldn't be that difficult. I would call around and see how much it would cost and what you would need to supply.
  • I haven't experienced altering maternity pants, but my MIL was a wiz when she altered reg jeans to maternity pants.  I don't know how much a tailor would cost, but MIL just bought the panel and sewed it herself.  She's great in that aspect.
