I am 23 weeks, and we know we are having a girl. My mom is throwing me a shower but I don't know when. I don't want to register too early and risk alot of the stuff I want being discontinued but there is some really cute stuff out and it goes with the theme we picked for the nursery. Could I go ahead a register and just keep an eye on the stuff they may be discontinuing or should I wait????
Re: when to start registry????
Just register now. I felt like the registry was a huge task (I hate asking for things) and I was glad to get it done and not have to worry about it anymore. Registering is just not fun for me, but I saw it as something practical that we can use as a checklist for the things we want/need and whatever doesn't get bought for us, we'll have a list of things left we need to buy on our own.
ETA: I started my registry online (Target) and then went to the store a little later to add things that are only available in the store (like books/DVDs can be added to the registry only if you add them in-store).
It is pretty safe to register anywhere after 20 weeks. The only thing you will have to pay attention to are clothes, they will switch out the season pretty early. Other than that everything else stays the same
Have fun! we actually did it in 2 trips, it was quite overwhelming to try to do all in one day.
I started my registry probably WAAAAY too early. But then, I did most of it online and took a long time going through product reviews and stuff. Now that we're nearing the end of the Second Trimester, my husband and I have been going into Babysaurus (BRU) and double-checking things like cribs and bouncers and whatever to make sure they're of the size, shape and quality that we want. You know, assessing the physical properties of things that you just can't really get a feel for from a website description.
We actually found that the 5-in-1 crib I'd picked out was really chintzy and changed our minds.
We didn't register for any clothes practically at ALL, because we figure people are going to buy us whatever they want, regardless of what we pick out. And besides: the baby doesn't care what it wears - it'll spit up on whatever!
