Help! I fell on the ice today...

Hi!  I am 17 weeks today and I fell on the ice..I landed on my bottom and I don't feel any different, but I am still worried!  Has this happened to you before?  What should I do?

Re: Help! I fell on the ice today...

  • Just call your doc and he'll let you know if he wants you to come in. He'll also let you know what to start looking for just in case. GL!

  • I fell a few times (once, bouncing down half a flight of stairs on my butt, and twice on the ice) and I was fine. My doc said to keep an eye out for spotting or cramping. Your baby is very well protected in there, the odds of something bad happening are slim to none.

  • You should be okay as long as you aren't cramping or bleeding.  I hope you are okay and are not too bruised up!

    good advice!

  • I did the same thing over the weekend on our front step and cracked my butt pretty good on the edge of the concrete step.  OWWWW!  But as long as you didn't fall on your tummy, you should be fine.  I dunno about you, but baby's been giving me some extra padding in the butt area, we'll assume it's to help when I fall like a doofus.  Stick out tongue

  • Unless the fall was bad enough that it would have damaged your internal organs if you were not pregnant, you should be okay!  I have totally been there before, I fell up the stairs and landed on my side one time and checked in my pregnancy reference book and that is what it said.
  • Yikes! Sorry to hear that. It can't hurt to call your Dr. and just see what they think.

  • Definitely call your doc.  There was a girl on here Friday who fell on the ice and ended up going into preterm labor.
  • DON'T PANIC...whatever you do. I fell the other day because the floors were so slippery from the snow being tracked in....I got a pretty nasty bruise on my knee and my hip, but fell mostly on my side. I didn't call my doctor because I didn't feel any discomfort other than those 2 places and it's just been healing ever since.
  • This happened to me the other day, I called my drs office, and the nurse said just to make sure the baby is moving. Although, you may not feel movement yet. Call your drs. office, they will let you know what to look for. I know it's scary, it seemed as if it took forever to know my little girl was okay!
  • I had a pretty nasty fall not long ago and I did not bleed or cramp. I would definately tell the doc though.
