Those that have nebulizer machines for DC.

What do you do for them in the interim?  DS is coughing nonstop.  I have the humidifier going and treatments every four hours.  My heart is just breaking for him!

  • When dd had pneumonia last week she also had treatments every 4 hours- I didn't dare do anymore than that even though she probably could have used it more often. I just hate the fact that it's a steroid... but it does help them so much when they are struggling! :( I hope your DS feels better soon!

  • When they are on the treatments, they will usually cough more after because the cough is getting more productive and working its way out. Don't do anything in between, it'll get better.

  • Maybe give him a warm bath, or if he's over 1 year, a spoonful of honey. I also suction what I can out of her nose and am constantly using those non-medicated saline sprays. They help us A LOT.

I hope he feels better soon.

  • When we had to do neb treatments for DD #2, we also used a humidifier in between, as well as going into the bathroom with the shower going for steam every now and then. Lots of nose suctioning if there is congestion.

Hang in there, I hope he feels better ASAP!

  • My son had to do 4 treatments of Pulmicort & 2 of albuterol every day all of last winter. They said he didn't have asthma, but they couldn't figure out what it was. He was tested for allergies & had 2 chest x-rays, everything came back normal.  I put up with it because I thought there were no more options, but then I started taking him to a pediatric chiropracter & w/in a month his cough went away about 95% and I stopped giving him the Pulmicort. His cough came back so his pediatrition orderd for him to start the pulmicort 1x daily, but I am doing it once every 3 days now & he seems to be just fine. My advice (I was a HUGE skeptic, but they can explaine to you about their body, how it works & why it works) is to look into a chiropractor. It was explained to me that if the alignment of their spine is off in certain places, it will pinch the nerves & send mixed signals to their immune system & the brain, in my sons case it triggered coughing when he wasn't really sick.
