My girlfriend is having her second son in early May. ?Her older son is 4. ?I'd like to throw her a little sprinkle since things have changed/improved in 4 years, but i've never been to a sprinkle, so I'm not sure what to do/expect. ?I know it's more low key than a full-on baby shower, but what kinds of things of you think she'll need new (besides a double stroller - she's already got one)? ? TIA!
Re: NMR: sprinkle ?
I don't have any answers for you, but am so glad you posted this. I just got out of the shower, and the whole time was thinking, how do I go about throwing a sprinkle?
My sister is pg with her second and I wanted to do a little something for her. More of a celebration of her second, so no big gifts or anything, just a party and was thinking of going the sprinke route, but still not sure.
Looking forward to everyone's responses.
at the sprinkles i have been to people usually get clothing- no big gear stuff- since it's not as formal as a regular shower- people don't tend to spend as much $$ on the gifts.
Diapers is a good thing- and always needed, too.
depends on what she kept and what they have come out with since she had her first - things like bumbo? new bouncy seat or exersaucer? tell her to register for what she needs.... and people will buy what they want.
I've never heard that term "sprinkle" before - that is funny! I've only been tone, and it was held because the Mom had 2 boys and was pregnant with her first girl, so to help her get girls stuff.
If your friendwere planning on having more kids andkept everything, then she probably doesn't need much except maybe a 'diaper' or 'wipes" theme, baby feeding supplies, pacifieres, etc things that get tossed after one baby.
If i were you, I'd ask her DH or mom or soeone close to her if they know what she kept vs. what she didn't - like did she keep her swing, bouncy chair, etc?
Also, if you keep it small, then maybe you should all chip in and get 1-2 huge items that she needs (like a stroller or beach tent). It is another boy so she probably doesn't need much
Haha re 'sprinkle'!
I would do the chip in thing like pp mentioned if there are some big things she needs/wants or do something low key- lunch out & have everyone bring diapers/wipes/clothes (esp if it is a girl) to keep costs down.
We did something like that in my book group for someone whose second was 7 yrs after her first, I got a small laundry basket & put pkg of diapers, wipes and a bunch of bath & first aid stuff in it (all with gift receipt of course, in case she had preferences), it turned out cute.
