1st Trimester

Introducing myself!

Hi ladies! I am new to the community and am so excited to have some extra support.  I just found out a little over a week ago that I'm pregnant.  I was then SUPER sick for about 4 days straight and now think I have a handle on the nausea and such.  I'm a little nervous and very excited.  I still need to find an OB!  Tongue Tied  I made an appt. with someone and then went online and found 3 horrible reviews about that Dr!!  I'm trying not to stress out, but I really want to get an appt. with someone through Sharp.  Any advice on Dr. seaching/reviews would be awesome!

Also...if I'm 5 weeks (totally guestimating here), is it normal for me to feel HUGE?!  ...like more than just bloated?   I already can't fit into my jeans.

Thanks for listening.  I can't wait to find out when my due date is going to be and to mingle with other soon to be mommies!

:)

Re: Introducing myself!

  • Congrats and welcome.  Your problem with fitting in your pants is probably just bloat.  I've had it since before my positive test and it has YET to go away.  lol.  Try getting a bella band to help with the pants.  I love mine!

  • Congrats. How exciting! I'm going to try and give you some "BUMP" advice!

    1. Get a ticker. You can find lots of them on here, and everyone is going to start asking!

    2. You are just bloated. You might need to poop, and being pregnant it's going to become increasingly more difficult to do so. (sorry... this is the WORST for me to get used to... and still haven't *giggles*)

    3. Guesstimate your due date, for now, based on the first day of your last period.

    4. Glad that you've passed the sickness for now... but hold on! M/S typically begins around week 6 or 7 and continues through your first tri.

    5. You have time to find an OB. Doctor's won't (typically) schedule appointments until about 8 weeks (at the earliest), so do your homework! Then, remember, NOTHING is permanent. If you get there and don't feel perfectly comfortable... move on!

    6. Welcome!?

(I'm sure you'll get more great advice from everyone else!)?

  • congratulations and welcome.  hope you won't have bad morning sickness.  and yes i feel huge quite often it is bloat - ugh.
  • Congrats!  Maybe those 3 bad reviews are the only bad ones...no doc is a perfect fit for everyone, but it also depends on the severity of the negative comments written on him.  A suggestion to try to find an OB, but dont know any new mommies, is to try heading to a playground or park or near the play area at McDonalds and just ask the mothers there.  I personally wouldn't find it weird or rude if someone asked me. Good luck!

  • Congrats and welcome!  Yes my jeans have been unbuttoned since week 5.  It's bloat as well as the holidays :)  Get a bella band for sure - priceless.
  • Thanks everyone!  I already feel better knowing I'm not the only one out there going through pregnancy!  My husband and I were just married last year and we are SOOO excited, but everything is very new for me!

Thanks for all the tips and suggestions!!  Great ideas.  Also, I think I have a ticker now!! hehe... I guess maybe I'm more than 5 weeks!  LOL!  See...I told you I'm new at this!  Big Smile

  • congrats and welcome!!!!

  • Sounds like you thought the same thing I thought with my first pregnancy. I didn't realize that the weeks begin with the date of your last pregnancy so with my first when I went to the doctor, I thought I was a little over 3 weeks when I was really almost 5 weeks.
