1st Trimester

Poll: Paranoid DH's

Okay, out with it - how paranoid is your DH when it comes to you and your pregnancy?

Mine is clueless, and I'll admit I like it that way.

Re: Poll: Paranoid DH's

  • Not paranoid at all. He is sensible though and makes comments like, "Don't overdo it. Take it slow." when I am headed to the gym.

With #1, I vaguely remember him being slightly worried about sex? But other than that, he's a fairly calm dad to be.

  • Usually he acts completely the same as he did before I was PG, so much so that I wish he'd baby me a little. The other day though, he randomly e-mailed me at work telling me not to eat any more high fructose corn syrup because it had mercury in it. Totally out of character,

  • mine is pretty cool, not paranoid at all and i think that is good.  he does show some concern though, which is nice.
  • we're both pretty nervous and paranoid, but i think that's cause we're both doctors and know too much about all the what ifs... i think we'll both chill out after the first trimester, or even after we see a hb.

  • Asks me a million times if I am okay when I am feeling sick, tries to clean, but he hates it, told me about my expected symptoms before I read about them, and is very concerned with how I am feeling all the time, also a freak about me driving in the snow. All that said I love it!!
  • lets just say that I'm glad I'm the one who's carrying the baby... ? he is completely clueless & ?acts as if nothing has really changed ? sometimes I think he thinks I'm making it up or overreacting when I don't feel good... I told him today I wish he could have this nausea for one second and then he'd get what I'm talking about
  • He's not paranoid.  He has taken over the grocery duties and cleans the house.  he runs out to get me fast food whenever I want and he gives me lots of back rubs.  Of course, he did a lot of this before we got PG, but I think he is much more doting now that I'm having his baby.  He does worry about me overeating but he doesn't say a thing, never complains that I sleep 12 hours a day and generally is being a great hubby. :)
  • Not at all about the pregnancy, but more about what we're going to do with two under one! Then I remind him my mom will be living closer, and he goes into more of a tizzy. Hehe, I'm mean. :)
  • This time around DH is very nervous.  I didn't have Type 1 Diabetes with our DD so he's freaked out that something will happen to me.
  • Not paranoid.

As long as I stay calm & he keep him informed on what's going on, how I'm feeling, etc. then he stays calm.?

  • Mine's not at all.  It's very nice.  I'm a doctor, he's not, and he just believes that whatever I do or eat or drink must be OK.

  • Mine lets me be.  He trusts that I know more about this than he does...and that I'd tell him where to shove it if he tried to tell me what to do.

If I were doing something actually dangerous, I could understand his concern, but I've pretty much got things under control, and he knows that.

  • Not at all!  I'm an avid reader and have done a ton of research.  He is shocked all the time when I tell him things I can't eat, meds I can't take, etc...  I wish he was rubbing my feet and doting on me...hopefully a belly will bring that on!

  • He's has this weird obssession (sp?) with worrying our cat will jump on my stomach and crush the baby. He blocks the cat with couch pillows when she comes near me..its actually pretty funny.
  • Does testing the temperature of my bathwater count as paranoid????
