B-day Invite Question

I'm having a birthday party for Ds at a specific venue where there is a limit on the amount of kids to play.  At this point I'm over the limit and I'm trying not to have to pay for additonal kids if I can help it.  Part of the problem lies with 2 kid families. In some of thoes families Ds sees one child on a regualr basis (the older child is in school) and as much as I am close to the mom Ds doesn't know the other child that well. Would it be wrong for me to only invite 1 child of that family?  And use the older child's spot for another family?

Keep in mind DS is just turing 2 so yes, this party is more for me & the social aspect rather than the kids...lol.

Re: B-day Invite Question

  • I don't think so.  my mom and I discussed this because it's  the same situation we will have if we have a big party for DS this summer.  If your DC isn't really "friends" with the older, I don't think it's necessary to invite them.

  • If just the kids were going to attend the party without the parents, then I think it would be fine to just invite the younger sibling. But since you mention the social aspect for you, it sounds like adults are going to be there too. If that's the case, then it seems like you should invite both kids. Otherwise, what will they do with their other child while they're at the party?

Funny you asked, these particular Mom's have left their older kids at home with Dad at before and just brought the one child. The party is only for an hour and half so it's not as if it's an all day event.
