Baby is still locked away and protected behind the pubic bone, so falling is not **terribly** dangerous at this point. Not saying I'd hurl myself down a ski slope, but the doc is probably right.
Also agree. It's never "safe" to fall, whether skiing, horseback riding, or walking on an icy driveway, but my doctor said it was pretty much okay before week 12!
So then her baby would be fine if she broke her neck?
For example, she accidently collided with another skier or object. So many other things could happen other than her falling. No matter how good you are at something, shiit happens.
and shiit happens when you're not skiing. Shiit happens driving a car (by the statistics a very dangerous thing to do if you go by probability of accident).

Not saying that I'd do it (skiing), but you can also get run over while crossing the street. Sh!t can happen anywhere.

Guess she better not drive herself around either....

I hope you're not leaving the house or even breathing. You may inhale toxic fumes. Come on people. Use your brains, just a *little*!
Agreed. I wouldn't do it, but if her doctor says it's fine, it's her choice.
& I wasn't flaming her for asking her doctor It is a question she should have asked her doctor in the first place...obviously, since all of us have differing opinions. I was just wondering why she asked us like that would be her decision-maker, then ran to her doctor, then came running back on her to announce what her doctor said.
My doctor was fine with me skiing in my first trimester. I said this in the post on first tri, but I find is so funny that everyone is all about "moderation" when it comes to things like lunch meat, which also carries a risk of miscarriage, but are so up in arms about someone skiing at 4 weeks pregnant. How do they know which carries more risk?

Re: At 4 weeks
Agree. And most women don't even know they're pregnant at this point.
Thank you! This whole debate is really annoying me.
She did what was ask of all newbies. If you're worried, ask your doctor. Follow your doctor's advice above that of a message board.
And yet people are flaming her for doing exactly that.

Why even have an OB? The ladies on this board know better than the trained professionals!
She'll be fine.

I have to agree with this =/
