Would YOU believe my lie . . . ??

OK, so DH & I have a ski condo at a local ski resort. We will be having a bunch of ppl up there with us over Valentines weekend. There will be one lady there in particular that is a good friend, but she has a hard time keeping quiet about ANYTHING so I do NOT want her to know I'm pregnant yet. I know how to cover up the fact that I'm not drinking and NOOO i'm not asking if i can ski, but . . . i need an excuse not to ski.

I didn't buy myself a ski pass this year because we were trying to get pregnant and didn't want to waste $400+. My husband will be taking out our 4 year old, but he doesn't last out there too long. If I just say I don't want to spend $60 on a day pass to go out for a while just to have to come back in with DS does that sound legit?? We are HUGE skiiers and this is VERY out of the ordinary for me not to ski keep in mind. I think last year was different since I had a season pass. I can just say it wasn't a big deal to take out DS, come in for a while, go back out, etc, etc. since i had the season pass.  So, is it believeable to YOU???

Re: Would YOU believe my lie . . . ??

  • Yeah, I'd totally believe it!

  • I would think so, however I'm going to guess this woman knows you love to ski, so would probably think something is up.

  • i dunno if i would believe you, but have you asked your doc if its ok? my dr. let me go skiing until 12 weeks, when the ute comes up out of the pelvis. she said as long as you have the pelvis protecting ute, you can ski, especially since you already know how. call your dr and see if you can, if you want that is... i would understand if you didnt. i just wanted to one more time before i couldnt anymore. i went at 8 weeks.
  • hey, when in doubt, i say feign an injury. nothing wrong with a twisted ankle or back pain, right? two birds with one stone... can't drink, taking pain pills... Wink

I COMPLETELY trust myself . . . I have been skiing for 24 years. It's the other crazy people that I don't trust. My luck someone would come out of nowhere and blindside me or something. haha!!

  • I wouldnt if I knew you and knew you all were huge skiers. Maybe say you threw our your back or hurt yourself in some way and the dr. reccomends you take it easy on the skiing that weekend.

  • I hate to be the bearer of the truth... I wouldnt believe you.... sorry :(

especially since you sound like an avid skier

  • I would totally believe you. If your friend knows you well, I could see her maybe asking a few questions. But truthfully, I think it is pretty believable and if your DH is taking your son up for a little while and they don't last too long up there, you could easily say it's not worth spending that money for that short of a time.

Ha!  That's exactly what I was going to say!  Wrap an ace bandage around your wrist or something and follow the advice above.

  • I would believe that. I say go for it.

  • Definitely fake an injury or taking some really strong medication, especially if you can't drink alcohol and need an excuse for that too.

  • Sorry I probably wouldn't belive you. Mostly because um, why didn't you get the pass this year? If one of my girlfriends who gets one every year suddenly didn't have one, and now she's not skiing at all? Sorry honey. I think the fake injury is a better bet.

  • Yeah, I'd definitely fake an injury or, like, a sinus infection or something (don't want to subject your injured sinuses to the cold, AND you're on anti-biotics).

  • If you LOVE sking I wouldnt buy it. I say you tell everyone you threw your back out a few days before the trip and its still sort of spazing out. Just act all bummed but say you are on dr's orders for no physical activity. (saying you are on muscle relaxers could also be a good excuse for not drinking).

  • Agree - add to the story that you've been sick or hurt. Then I think you're believable. Smile
  • Maybe tell her you are recovering from a cold so you want to "rest" and are on meds so you can't drink??  Just a thought.
  • Yea, I wouldn't believe you, either.  I say fake an injury you need pain meds for.

  • Wouldn't beieve you, sorry.  I'm with the other girls, fake an injury.
  • If I was you, I would fake an injury. This is the same exact reason why I ended up telling my family. We had some day trips planned to go skiing and my family would wonder why I wasn't participating, since I ski every year. So I figured it was easier to tell family, then lie to them. Actually, one of the days I was supposed to go is today. Right now my husband and father are out enjoying the slopes, while I sit here at work Sad

My doctor said the same thing about snowboarding. He said there is no reason to worry because my uterus is well protected... just can't do any flips in the air! I also wouldn't believe you if you are an avid skiier.
