Ok, the background info. I had a miscarriage last year (actually a year ago today), and as a result have been concerned about the health of this pregnancy. I've had my HCG levels checked 4 times, all good. I had an early sonogram after some pink spotting at 6 weeks, good heart rate. I insisted on having my progesterone level checked at my OB's at almost 7 weeks, and my level was 23.5. But, being the worrier that I am, and because I've had negligible symptoms, I had it checked again by my regular doc. this past Wednesday.
Yesterday I started spotting light pink again (well, just once it appeared on my toilet paper), but I called my OB's nurse and she told me to go in for a sonogram. Went in thinking this was it, end of pregnancy, but there was the heartbeat, beating away at 157 bpm (I was 8 weeks yesterday).
ANYWAY...I called my doc. for the results of the progesterone test this morning, and sure enough, they're down 19.9. Called my nurse (AGAIN) and asked if my OB would prescribe progesterone suppositories, which he is.
Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience, and what the outcome was. Do these suppository jobbies seem to do the trick?
Thanks, and sorry for the long anxious vent!
Re: Suppositories...any luck?
My doc said as long as my Pro level was over 15, I was good.
I am on the progesterone and it sucks...I get to go off of it this weekend...I assumeit did the trick. I'm still pregnant.
Ok, thanks ladies. Sorry, brianjessi about miscarrying a twin! I didn't realize that was possible, that must have been scary.
What makes you hate the suppositories?
I'm on progesterone supps 2x per day. I've had several m/c's, and this was the first time we tested my prog level right at the beginning of my preg. My level was 15.9, but I wanted to give this one a better chance, so I've been on them since 4w. They seem to be helping as I've had 2 U/S, and we've seen the heartbeat both times and the baby seems to be right on track for size, even a little ahead.
The reason most women don't like them is that they are messy. You have to take them at bedtime and wear a pantyliner at night (and most of the day). They go in solid, then melt quickly, so if you get up for any reason, it just trickles out. Night is easy, morning is a pain because I have to go back to bed for an hour or so or lay on the sofa with my butt elevated a bit so it doesn't leak.
They work though, and it won't be forever.
GL to you!

I just hate it because mine are red and I've been spotting since the miscarriage, although the doctor said I should be done spotting by now. However the wax from the suppositories leaks out and it's red and freaks me out...half the time I can't tell if it's wax or blood.
I loathe the genius that made them red. You might have a different color though, some girls the other day on here said they had white or yellow ones.
Ok, got it. Yeah, that would suck. The genius who decided they should be red was obviously never pregnant.
Good thing you're almost done with them, and thanks for the info!
