Scaly patches?

Anyone's DC have little scaly patches on their arms? I guess it's eczema. She's never had it before but I guess the cold weather is drying her out. What lotion do you use? And we bathe every night- it's part of our routine and they get so dirty eating and playing. I guess I could forgo the soap every other night? Any other suggestions?

  • L gets this in the winter with the dry weather.

Try Aquaphor...a thick coating after bathtime works well for him.

  • It does sound like eczema. ?My dd gets pretty bad flare ups and we have to resort to a prescription cream. ?Aquaphor works well for us. ?Cetaphil has a really good oatmeal bath that is soothing for when she has flare ups. ?Also, after we switched to the aveeno creamy body wash with no fragrance, etc., it helped so much. ?Good luck!

  • I've gotten them my whole life, yearround.

Ditto Aquaphor after bath, then put on long-sleeved PJs. It works better than any prescription I've been given for it.

  • Sounds like eczema.  We just started to use "Purpose" soap by Johnson and Johnson and it works awesome....it is soapless cleaner in a pump and is clear with no added scents to dry out skin.  Then we use Aquaphor right after a bath before we get pj's on which was recommended by pedi.  Aveeno never worked for us.
  • definitely find a gentle, fragrance-free soap...we use Dove.  When he has a patch of red skin we put a 1% hydrocortisone cream on it, and then Eucerin or Aquaphor on top of that.
