We were planning on getting back the same refund as last year, about 5k.  Nope, we are getting a whopping $16.  That was supposed to cover our debt and the items we needed for the girls.  No idea where the money is going to come from now.  I have no idea what changed on our taxes to make it be this different.  Ugg.

Wow that stinks!  We can't do our taxes yet we still are waiting for some papers to come in.  DH is convinced we are getting a ton of money this year and but I just don't see it and I'm worried he is getting his hopes up

That isnt fun news to find out. Two years ago we got a few thousand back and it was great being able to splurge on a few items and then pay off some bills. The following year we were planning/hoping for a similar refund, only to find out we made a little more money, which put us into the next tax bracket by about $100 and we ended up having to pay money in. This year will be better since we have the girls we can claim.?

We also thought we were going to get a great refund.  Then I got my W2s and it doesnt look good.  For some reason they didnt take Fed. taxes out for then entire year!  Not for my old job for 9 months or my current job for 2 months.  Dh doesnt work but I didnt think that would matter.  I guess since we are a family of 5 living off one low income they dont take it out.  Still sucks.  But I guess what they didnt take out we had extra throughout the year. (have no idea if that is true, I seriously dont understand all the tax stuff)

Dh still thinks we will get the earned income child credit.  Im crossing my fingers but not really getting my hopes up.

Atleast you didn't give Uncle Sam a free, no interest loan all year.  I personally would rather owe money than get money back.  Atleast I got to use the money during the year.  We usually break even.  I think we get $149 from fed and owe $109 to state.  Just the way I like it!
