Easy Spaghetti Sauce recipe?

Anyone have one?  I'm tired of Ragu from the jar and thought I would try making my own.

Re: Easy Spaghetti Sauce recipe?

  • First, cook chopped onions and garlic in olive oil until soft. Add two cans (28oz) of crushed tomatoes (I think Tutto Rosso are best) and stir.  Add two bay leaves, basil, and some red wine. Let it cook on low until it thickens.

Sorry, I don't really measure anything, but it turns out good. I also use the chopper and sneak some carrots and celery in there as well.

  • try prego. LOL, no seriously I use Prego, add diced tomatoes, onions, garlic, and herbs and it comes out fabulous!
  • Mine goes in the crockpot so it's extra easy.  Smile

If you want to - brown hamburg and/or sausage and put it on the bottom of the crockpot.  (meat is optional)  Add two of those giant cans of Tomato Sauce (the kind near the veggies next to the canned tomatoes.  I think they're like 40+oz.  Anyway, two of those, about a table spoon of garlic (or more if you like garlic), 2-3 table spoons (or more) of italian seasoning, some black pepper if you want.  Cook on low for 6-8 hours (or longer).  I use spicy sausage that I scramble with hamburg to spice the sauce up a little.
