Houston Babies

When to hold sip and see?

When would you have a sip and see?  I am trying to figure out the best age for baby.  Ideally, it will be in the first 8 weeks while I am on maternity leave and while DH is home.  Is this too soon?  I am not a super germophobe or freaked out about other people coming around.  Granted, this is assuming he is born healthy, etc.

Re: When to hold sip and see?

  • I am going to host one for my new niece in May...she's due in early April.  We're thinking right around 5-6 weeks.  Hope that helps!

i think whatever you are comfortable with is fine!

but my perspective might be a little different bc the 1 month birthday for a baby is a HUGE deal in vietnamese culture.

  • Oh...that would work.  I bet I'll even have some lovely newborn and maternity pics to show off if we do it around that time frame.  Stick out tongue

This gives me a great idea.  I was trying to plan for food and might do Vietnamese now.  Care to share some yummy recipes?

honestly, for a party i order when i can... or my mil and aunts cook! Big Smile

bodard restaurant has great party menus... it's a lot of food, for very reasonable pricing.

if you have a specific dish in mind, though, i have a great vietnamese/thai cookbook that i use.

I am going to check out this restaurant.  Does your family have any tasty tofu recipes?  I love the stuff, but can't cook it to save my life.

  • This is so naive...do you host your own or does someone host it for you?  I guess I thought it was kinda like a shower, but not really.

I think it depends on your intent.  We don't want gifts, we just want to have an open house type event where everyone can come and meet him.  With DH's schedule, it is hard for us to divide our time between family time and friend time, so if we can knock out a whole bunch of people in one day, it would be great.

Oh ok!  Awesome.  I want my brother and SIL to have some new things for their new little girl so I wanted them to have a S&S which is why I'm hosting it...I'm doing it for the gifts for them!
