did you have the child's room set up when they came to see? We're trying to decide how much to do ahead of time and what can be left til we're actually approved and ready to move forward. TIA!

Re: those who have done a homestudy for fostering
for the final home study we did have the room completely set up. it made things much easier. as long as they see the bed there for the child, that's all they need to see that you have a place for them to sleep. i would also encourage you to get a child's bath towel and wash cloth. that was one thing they looked for to make sure the child had access to their own towel.
for the initial home study/visit, we just showed them the room that the children were going to be in.
I agree with both posters above. The initial visit we just had to show them where the room was. BUt, our final inspection had to have the room set up.
We will be licensed for 0-5 and needed at least one crib and at least one bed. Each child must have their own "space" to put their stuff in. So, since we will accept 2 placements, we had to have two areas. We have one closet and one dresser.
The beds (crib) not only had to be there, but there had to be a full set of sheets on the bed - including mattress pads. Oh - and we had to have some kind of window coverings on each window. Something that covered the window for privacy - like blinds or curtains.
Like the PP said, we also have to show (and at least confirm) that we have enough towels for the child to have their own. I am not buying special towels though.
Good Luck
