Knowing, of course, that not all babies do crawl....finally got DD to learn how to roll from tummy to back, so now whenever I do tummy time it's over in about 2 seconds! She doesn't seem interested in bearing weight on her arms and knees, either, so how is she going to experiment with rocking back and forth and eventually crawling? She leans faaaaaar forward to get at things in front of her, and sometimes falls on her face, but then rolls right over on her back again. Any ideas?
Re: How do you teach them to crawl?
She'll figure it out. DS had a more than a month of leaning way over for things, and then doing this funny scooting thing (He'd sort of go hip-over-hip while sitting to get to things) before he figured out crawling - backwards. And then it took another month to get forwards down. I agree with pp - do lots and lots of floortime.
The one thing that helped with my DS was that everytime we put him down we'd put him on his tummy. He would roll over, but eventually he would get himself in that position. hth

Don't do it! Enjoy your sanity! :P
Kidding. I didn't do anything to my son. He was a fairly early, or at least average, crawler and I was even awful about tummy time.
They'll do it when they're ready (if at all) then all hell breaks loose. Have fun!
