a children's book that makes them cry? Ever since I read it, probably 15 years ago, The Giving Tree, by Shel Silverstein literally makes me cry. It is one of my favorite books and I definitely want to share it with my son, but I can't read it even now without getting teary. Does this book have this kind of effect on anyone else, or any other books?

#1 would definitely be The Giving Tree and #2 is Corduroy. I already have them both (and Where the Sidewalk Ends) for baby boy's library.

Oh my gosh! My husband loves, loves, loves that book! He actually had considered in college the idea of getting a tattoo of the illustration on the last page of that book. It is a book he will definitely be sharing with our son.
