Would it be rude

My MIL just called and said that she would buy us a twin pack and play.  That is great, but the thing is we have one that I could use from my DD that has a changer on it.  We only use the changer now, but the first 6 weeks or so, Emily slept in it.  I don't think we need another one.  So do you think it would be rude for me to have DH to ask her instead to buy one of the cribs?

Re: Would it be rude

  • No, but the thing is that When you have your men, your daughter may still be using the pnp.  I had to get a third something to use at my parent's house.  The twin aspect of the pnp, IMO, can't be used that long.  If it were me, I'd be asking for two pnps instead.

  • Why not say "wow! Thanks for offering to buy us a new PNP....but since we already have one would you consider putting the money towards a crib, instead?"
  • I was told by our pediatrician that both babies can sleep together until they start moving around a lot so it seems you'll only need one. We have two so that we can travel with them this summer (when they will no longer be able to sleep together).

I don't think it would be rude to just tell her that you already have one and don't need another. Maybe then she will ask what you need and offer to buy you something else.
