We like our peditrician, but to get in the same day you have to call at 8am. DD has been fighting a cold for 2 weeks now, and I think she may have a ear infection or sinus infection. I am trying to let her fight it off on her own, but I am not sure how much we can handle.
There is a walk in clinic down the road that takes our insurance. If it gets bad enough, should I just take her there? I like the idea of not having an appointment, especially on days like today, when I am waiting for an insurance adjuster to check out the damage from our leaking sky light.
Re: Would you take DC to a walk in clinic?
I went to urgent care 1x for myself for what turned out to be a bad case of allergies. It was a 4 hour deal, in spite of the 1-2 hours they initially told me.
My Dr. then was a sole-practictioner. I actually changed Dr.'s to a group because of it. I'll never go the urgent care route again.
I'd get an appt. w/the pedi for tomorrow if necessary. And then if it really is that difficult to get in, I'd probably look at changing pediatricians. My office has gotten me in the same day on the 3 separate occasions we've needed it so far. And 1x, I called at lunch.
But that's me.
I have taken DS to the walk in clinic many times. It is always a long wait, but the care and attention is just as great as his Dr.'s. Our walk in clinic is part of his Dr.'s office, though, so that could be the reason.
If you think she can go one more night, then call and see about an appointment tomorrow. Or if they have a cancellation for today.
Thanks for the imput. I like our pedi, but am not in love with her. I will probably switch when we have #2. They could get me in today, but it was during her nap time, and I just won't mess with nap time.
So far so good, DD is better today then she was yesterday, she may be fighting it off.
that's weird that you have to call by 8 for a same day appt... hmmm..
I would make her an appt for tomorrow if you think she's doing better today and is napping. Then you can call tomorrow and cancel it, but if she wakes up tomorrow and is feeling bad, you can take her in.
I would go to the urgent care or walk in clinic though and just hope for a reasonable wait if it got really bad I guess...
