how long does it take you to get to there home? DH and I are thinking of moving soon but the houses we love are about 20 mins from our current home and our parents. We have always lived with 5 mins from them so this just seems like a big time difference.

I wouldn't sweat 20 minutes.  That's really nothing.  I would think it would be more of a pain to get everything together for a 5 minutes drive.

It takes us 15-20 minutes (depending on traffic) to get to my ILS. It's about 45-60 minutes to my parents house.

About 25 minutes and I SO wish we were 5 minutes away. My dad is retired and he could watch Caroline before and after preschool making my life a lot easier.

we live about 10 mins away from my parents but that does not mean we see them all the time, we still usually only see them on weekends and we are planning on moving. I'd move 20 mins away but for us that means better schools and area so it is totally worth it.

It's about 15 min. to my parents and about 20 min. to the ILS.. that's not a far travel, it's better then an hour or more.  Plus like PP said it would be such a pain to pack up for a 5 min. trip :-p I wouldn't worry if you like the homes you are looking at 15-20 min. is nothing.

Coincidentally, and not intentionally, our neighborhood is directly across the highway from my parents.  So, it takes maybe 1 full minute to get to their house from ours.  My inlaws are in the next city over which is only about a 15 min. drive.  20 minutes is a good distance.

We just moved from out of state and 6 hours away to in state and 1 hour away and it's really not a huge deal.  We get together all the time.  My kids don't mind being in the car and sometimes I try to plan it so we'll be in the car during naptime.

We live about 10 minutes from my mom and step-dad and 20 minutes from my IL's.  I wish it were further from my IL's .

we are about 4 minutes from my parents and my sister and her family (in a big triangle, same town).

we are 40min from DH's mom, and i like it that way

I guess it's all relative. Our parents live outside of Phila and Baltimore. When DS was born, we were in MI; now we live in DC and I consider the 90 minute trip close and the 2.5 hours to Phila managable.

We live in MI...my parents are decease and IL's live in FL.

My oldest DD and her DH and DS live 30 minutes (25 on non-snow covered roads) away.  Living in the country you get used to driving that far for things (shopping,etc).  That is considered fairly close.  lol

We're about 20 minutes from dh's mom and my parents, and less than 10 from my fil. It's not bad at all. If we need someone in an emergency my fil and his gf come over since they're the closest.

We live about 45 minutes from our parents, but they are both on the way to our offices. It's not a big deal to us since we drive that everyday anyway. It keeps them from coming to visit without telling us.

We live about 10/15 min for our parents..both sets are divorced so 3 of them live that distance and my dad is in Texas so who knows how long it takes mb 27 hrs?
