Curly Hair Question

Anyone get curly hair AFTER having DC?  I had bone straight hair for so long.  It started getting wavier during pregnancy, but now I am resorting to a straightener so I don't have this strange bumpiness to my hair.  If they were pretty curls, I would so be down with this, but...yuck, they are not.

Re: Curly Hair Question

  • not during pregnancy, but when I was 21 I cut my hair short, and when it came back in it was curly. I hear your hair changes every so often due to hormones, so I can definitely see pregnancy having some effect.

  • It didn't happen to me but I know it can.  I was actually afraid of losing my curls when I got PG.

  • No, but my bff's hair went from really tight curls to almost completely straight since having her DD.  She ended up cutting all her hair off so it wasn't straight at the roots for quite a few inches and then curly on the bottom.
  • I had curly hair before I got pg but it has gotten curlier during/since being pg. I wish I was one of the curly to straight people though, I hate my curly hair. It is much easier to do though.

  • My wavy hair popped up during puberty (all my toddler pics, it was bone straight).  but I didn't really know it was wavy b/c I had had perms before (no digs!, they were popular back then!  lol).  So all that time, I thought - man, this perm will never grow out!  It was actually my natural wave.  I didn't start figuring out how to fix it until maybe 3-4 years ago.  Then I started wearing it "curly" instead of back in a bun or attempting to straighten.

Since PG - I think it has gotten a little wavier, but not really noticeable.

I hate that inbetween stage - where it's not really curly enough to fix, but just annoying enough to frizz when you try to straighten it.

Ha! This is my story exactly!! Except that my hair is more curly, not just wavy. But I got a perm at the start of 8th grade and it was like it just never went away. And my childhood photos are full of a blond child with straight hair with just a tiny hint of wave at the ends.
