Does the whining EVER end?

Seriously, DS ( 3 1/2) seems like he does more whining/crying than his 2 year old sister. It's an all day everyday thing. I seriously think that he needs more sleep, either nap or sleeping later than 6, but trying to get him to do that is impossible. I'm losing my mind... and running out of Kleenex.

No.  L is 3.5yrs (4 in May) and also does alot of whining.  Well, when he isnt pestering his sisters and making them whine/cry.  Its gotten worse since he has been in school.  He is just so tired.  He is used to a 3hr nap and he only gets 1-2hrs at school.  When most of the kids wake up they wake up the rest of them.  I think he is just tired.  The days he takes a good nap at school are his best.

Plus when he comes home from school on bad days I sit with him for about 15-20mins for cuddle time and he seems ok after that.

  • Sounds pretty typical actually. Just ask around here and you'll have plenty of people tell you that 3 is worse than 2.

When DS does that, I tell him I don't respond to whining and he needs to use his words like a big boy does. If not, I walk away and ignore it like a 2 year old tantrum. Ive been doing that for a couple of weeks and it seems to be improving.

  • I hate to say it but I'm glad to know I'm not the only one whose child does this.  DS will be 4 in March and I swear he can't speak without whining.  I feel like he whines all. the. time.  It's driving me crazy.  I also tell him he needs to ask with his big boy voice and I try to not respond when he whines or I tell him to go to his room and take a break until he can stop whining about everything.
