How many loads of laundry do you do a week?

My "year's supply" of tide post below got me thinking.....how many loads does a typical family do in a week's time?  Also how many people are in your family? The salesman at the store said an average size family does 8 loads a week.

We do 7 loads a week and there are 3 in our family.

  • 2 for DH and I (he wears suits to work though so he dosen't go through much clothing) and 2-3 for Elyse.

  • Whites on Mondays
My husband's and my clothes on Tuesday
    Adam's stuff on Wendsday
    Towels and sheets on Thursday

And diapers every 3 days. So 7 loads a week.

  • Our nanny is a washing freak and does multiple loads per day. Before her (which was pre-ds), we did about 5 loads a week. I don't even want to guess what we do now.

  • For DH, myself and DS we do about 7 loads.  DH works outside and gets nasty, so he has a lot of wash.  But I make up for it by wearing sweats all of the time.
  • Average? 12-15 and that includes linens and towels. There are 5 of us. DH wears work clothes, gym clothes and sleep clothes. I wear casual clothes and gym clothes, DS#1 wears a school uniform and play clothes and then there are the babies.

  • 4 every other, 5 on alternating...I always make sure we have enough clothes and what not to have enough that I do whites, darks, lights, and Breleigh's clothing once a week. Plus I do towels every other week. We use towels twice before they go in the basket.

  • I do laundry every Sat. One load of food stained bibs and clothes, one load of whites, two loads of darks one work clothes one play clothes, one load of towels, and I was bed linens. So that is 6 loads a week. Wow that is a lot more than I thought. I will some weeks skip towels and bed linens and just put them in the laundry closet for the next week because I have tons of towels and use them for a few days.

  • Hmm...I do two loads a week for me, DH does two loads for himself. I probably do 2-3 loads a week for DS,and I wash towels and sheets once a week. So that's 9 right there. I also CD, so I wash diapers every 2-3 days.

  • SERIOUSLY?!?!  Wow, I wonder if I owned a washer and dryer if I would do laundry as much as you all do.  We send our laundry out to be done every two weeks, sometimes every week.  But definitely not more than once a week.  DS stays home with the nanny though so sometimes he stays in his pjs all day so he doesn't go through too many clothes.  I guess we have too many clothes LOL
  • We are a family of 3 and I would say we average 5 loads a week.  I am kinda lazy about it and only do full loads.
  • hmmm 15? clothes for dh and i, towels, aidan, sawyer..

OH!! and aidan takes her diaper off 90% of the time when she gets into bed and so I wash her bedding 1-2x a day!! LOL delightful!

  • one for DS, 1-3 for me and DH (and the household).
