**Goldie locks**

Hi there miss prevacid expert. Wondering if you can answer a couple questions for me?

First.. we are switching my son to the solutabs. Since my pedi office is closed (I'll call in the am) we disolve the solutab in 4ml of water and give it to him with a syringe right?

Also.. I am not sure if if was you or someone else that mentioned there is financial aid available for people who have a child on this. Am I imagining this? If so.. can you tell me how I go about finding out if we qualify? Those solutabs are EXPENSIVE. holy moly!

Thanks!

Jen

Re: **Goldie locks**

  • correct- you open the back of the oral syringe and put the solutab in - then draw up approx 5ml (if the 15mg tablet... 10ml if the 30mg) and then shake until it's dissolved. It will have lots of little granules- that is the medecine - they are enteric coated so you want to make sure they do not get chewed/crushed... and want to make sure they aren't left in the oral syringe. This can be a little tricky- you have to shake it and then hold your finger over the end of hte syringe and let the granules sink to the bottom..... after you squirt it in you might need to draw up a little more water and repeat until all the granules are in baby's mouth.

There used to be a savings card program but it JUST ended because Prevacid loses it's patent this year- and we have a new drug coming out soon... so will not be promoting it anymore in the near future.  Unfortunately, Solutabs do not go off patent - so they will not get generic pricing for a while (few years i think).

the only savings options avail now are listed here... you can see if you qualify. https://www.prevacid.com/tools/heartburn-medicine-savings.aspx

what pharmacy are you going to?  every pharmacy prices differently - generally around here costco has the cheapest pharmacy prices for Prevacid (and every other drug really).... you do not need a membership to go- just ask at the door to go to the pharmacy- legally they have to let you. Not sure if you don't have costco- but any of those types of discount warehouse places with a pharmacy should be cheapest... shop around- find the best price.  Typically Wallgreens/eckerd/CVS are the most expensive.

i HTH! let me know if you have any more questions!
