I've been researching the cord banking, but have found it to be quite pricey. My doctor told me that they all do the same thing, so just find the least expensive one out there. Does anyone know what the least expensive option is?
the least expensive option is to donate it. it will be added to a bank, you pay nothing, other people can access it if needed and it will also be available to you if, god forbid, anything were to happen.
We decided to go with the Cord Blood Registry. In my research I found most of the major places to be pretty similiar in price. I like CBR and knew someone who had also used it so we got a referral discount by going with the same place.
ditto iluvabrit. that's what we're doing (donating). we don't anticipate needing it since we have no family history of anything, but we figure it's there just in case not to mention available to others who could need and use it.
My mom is a maternity nurse and somehow got a discount through Cord Blood Registry for $750. We paid $1400...this was two weeks ago when my daughter was born..
Re: Least Expensive Cord Banking?
This is obviously a very personal decision but how necessary is it for you to bank? Do you guys have a family history of cancer or blood malignancies?
I think they are all pretty much around the same prices to be honest.
I work for a lab that actually uses the cord bloods for transplants and I am donating instead.
Soon to celebrate the day we met, even if the day before marks when we said goodbye.
