Couldn't stop crying

We lowered DS' crib today because he pulls himself up in there now - but now of course the crib skirt won't work and the bumper can't be in there - and the look of the bare bed made me cry - it's not my little man's crib anymore.  He's getting so big so fast.  :(

  • awww..Im sorry, its amazing how fast time flies :( just wait until you see your little boy in his "big boy" bed for the first time...wow, they look so small in it!

    {also, I was curious why you had to take the bumpers out, we've always had our dc's bumpers in even after lowering}

  • I took the bumpers out cause that's what I read I should do - if I don't have to do that I'd be over the moon happy.  Can't he get himself up a little higher by standing on it tho?  And how would it  work with raising and lowering the rail?
  • hmmm...I see what you're saying.
    With our bumpers, they tied and just slid along the rails as we raised and lowered..but, that being said, when we moved to our new house, Jacobs bedding did not match the walls (silly I know) so I took all of his bedding off and just kept a crib sheet on it, very plain, I agree. So it's hard to tell if Jacob would have figured out what to do. He did however, crawl out of his crib at 18 months no problem and thats when I got to have fun again and pick out a whole new bedding theme for his twin bed!

  • Depends on your bumpers... ours are thin-ish so if Ben steps on them, they jsut squash down.  They dont' give him any extra height for jumping out or anything.   But if yours are really fluffy and could be used to launch out, then yeah, take them out.

    Our skirt was short so it still works lowered and I still have the bumpers in.   I think his animals could provide a bigger stepstool to jump if he were so inclined.  Or the pillows.  He's got a lot of crap in there.  :)

  • I never took the bumpers out in our crib for DD, and the skirt always worked.  Our bumper ties on and just squashes down when you step on it, so I never worried that she'd try to use it to propel herself out of the crib.

  • We just went through this too. I totally feel your pain! I was about to buy a new set because DD hated it and so did I. I ended up folding the skirt and pinning it back so I could still use it. We put the bumpers back in too. DD hasn't tried to use them to climb out yet and they do flatten pretty well when pressed down.
  • Yep our bumper is still in there now and the skirt still works.  Cruz loves to snuggle up in the corners and if the bumper wasn't there he would bang his little head on the crib, ouch!

  • Oh my gosh!  I keep waiting for Mattie to pull himself up, but he's not even crawling yet.  Could be because he sleeps in a sleep sack so he can't get his feet apart.  I'm sorry Lennon's getting to be such a big boy so fast!!!  I know how you feel!

  • Oh Christa I am so sorry your feeling bad that Lennon is growing. We lowered Robbies crib when we moved. We figured why not put it on the lowest level now when it is all taken apart and we took the bumpers out once he was able to roll over and move around. It looks naked in his crib.

    Is Lennon crawling yet or just pulling up on stuff?
