I was watching "my first house" on DVR. This girl had a budget of 380,000. She looks at this house listed for 399,900. She loves it, offers 365,000. They counteroffer and they go back and forth and the seller gives his last offer back at 385,00. She was so mad that she was willing to go up 20,000 and they would only come down 14,000. She couldn't go higher but she felt they should give it to her for what she could afford. I hate when people have such an attitude of entitlement.
People get their first house and must have the gourmet kitchen, decked out bathroom, etc, etc, even if their budget does not allow for it. Annoys the heck out of me. We'd all love to have wonderful homes, but you typically have to work to get their and it's not usually the first thing you can afford.
Of course, 380,000 here in KY would buy an awesome home, but not everywhere.
Re: People on HGTV annoy me
I hear you! I bought my first house by myself for $74,000 and it had NOTHING but it was mine. I'm on my 3rd house now and I'm soooo greateful to finally have a dishwasher.
I also always wonder how a person can save up that much for their first house.
