Should I just get over it???

MIL wants to buy Luca a table and chairs for his 1st Birthday.  I've looked around, but MIL insists that I go find one at PBK.  I almost threw up when I saw the price... so I went to Ikea..  they have a very cute table and chairs for about 1/4 of the price.  I called MIL and told her about the Ikea set and she said that she would rather buy the PBK ones.  (she bought a PBK set for our niece 6 years ago)...  I like them, but I think that they are just too much ($435 plus tax and shipping)...  Should I just get over it and say thank you?   I know if I start a new registry for #2 I can get a 10% off coupon, but it just seems like too much...  I know I'm cheap, but that is outrageous..

Which set do you like better?  I would just go with that and not worry about the price since it is a gift.

It's a gift - you offered a cheaper solution, and she didn't want to take it.  Just say thank you, and move on.  :-)    (ditto pp - as long as you like the PBK one just as much)

I wanted the pbk one and got the ikea one. It's very nice and Jason even stained it. That said, if my mil was gonna buy it for me... I would get the pbk one.

it's not your money, so don't worry. she clearly knows the options that are out there and is chosing what she wants to spend. at least you know in advance and she isn't buying you something you hate without even asking like another MIL i know (luckily, not mine...)

I say as long as you like the PBK one to just let her spend her money.

I say....let her buy them. I let MIL buy that for Reagan for Christmas and she got a set from Land of Nod. I wanted to die at the price but she wanted to do it and I imagine that it will last longer then the ones from ikea.

I've been looking at the Land of Nod one.  I wish I could see it in person..  Do you have the round with storage compartment? If so I may have to come take a look.....

fwiw, i have ordered several items from LON, including Tru's big boy bed. i am very happy with the quality and very, very, very happy with the level of service i rcv'd.

I say just let her buy it. My MIL is the same way about buying expensive stuff for Rena. At first I kept trying to convince her not to get the pricy stuff but she always does it anyways. So I just accept graciously and thank her.
