Bfing issue vent

ok so I had an overactive letdown for a wk which caused gas in ds and made him frustrated. I called my pedi office and they reffered me to an LC so I called last fri to ask some ?'s. well she never called after two msgs. I called my pedi's office for anotehr referal and i couldnt get a hold of another LC after msgs being left.

now, my overactive letdown has turned into a low supply since ds has eaten for only 5 mins on each side and then gets frustrated it isnt coming out as fast. he's been nursing more often and ive been giving him a bottle of bm after to top him off since he was still hungry. well I finally got a call from an LC today after my pedi called her and complained. He was pissed. he called me and said he was so sorry and told me they would work with me to help me out. the LC gave me some advice but now Im upset.

so Now I have to pump the left side while making sure the right isnt drowning my son. But I refuse to let my supply dry up bc some stupid LC didnt call me back to help me. you would think having a job like that you would get back to someone asap if they are having problems.

UGH! anyone have suggestions on how to increase supply--besides pumping??

Hey girl! How are  you? Finn is adorable!! I have had trouble with supply also.  I drank mothers milk tea, oatmeal for breakfast and pumped like crazy for a couple days and it seemed to get better. I had my 6wk appt. today and my ob gave me a prescription for reglan in case I have any more trouble. I never imagined BF was so much work!!

I would just nurse as much as possible and pump every chance you get.  Also you can try Fenugreek and Mother's Milk tea. 

Also, call the La Leche League and see if they can put yhou in touch with a LC that can help or go to a meeting with them and let them help you. I called a LLL lady once and she was very nice.  I also went to see an LC at the hospital where I delivered.  GL and don't give up!

hey! im good and you?? I love your sons name! how cute! im a so frustrated, luckily im stubborn as a bull so I will try my hardest to get this going again. to think I went from drowning the poor thing to not making enough--bfing is rough. Thanks for the recs, ill try anything.

Thanks! You were team green right? were you so surprised when you finally found out BOY? I was shocked..convinced it was a girl LOL how was your labor?

no I knew he was a boy--i hate surprises labor was better than I thought--pushing was difficult and they used a vacuum bc I was exhausted, which cuased a bruise on his head which led to jaudice and an extra night in the hosp--but we got though it without supplementing and he is doing well --except for gas.

that must have been fun to find out then---i ciould have never waited. how was your labor?

Have you tried hand expressing at the beginning of breastfeeding? That way your breast isn't quite as full and he might not as frustrated with the so much milk coming out. Have you also tried posting this question on the bf'ing board?

yeah I do that with on, but now I have the opposite issue =( not enough is coming out of one.

hmm I dont know why I thought you werent finding out the sex. My labor sucked. Labored for over 30 hours, and ended with a c-section. My contractions slowed, they started pitocin and I didnt respond well to it...plus DS was face up.

that sucks--i saw your post about baths, I dont know about c/s's but i was told to take them from day one--immediately after deliv I took one. im sure if your incision is healed you are fine.

That really sucks.

Im now just getting back on track from a low milk supply issue myself. My doc perscribed me Domperdone. It has been a miracle. In a bout a week my supply doubled and was back to normal. DD started gaining weight again.

I also pump 2-3 times a day for 10 mins after a feeding and bottle feed her 2-3 ounces of BM with 2 ounces of formula twice a day. This a temp thing just because DD was not gaining enogh weight. We go back on Wednesday to see what next step is!

Ive been wanting one soo bad. I think im going to start the water right now:) oh yah, and my dr said to have an occasional beer. The yeast will also increase production.

hmm a bath, beer and bed sounds pretty good right now!:)  Good night, and GL with your supply issue!!
