DD is frustrating me...NEED ADVICE!

DD is PTing.  We started mid-November and she did great.  Since the beginning of December she would tell us when she had to go potty and had very few accidents, usually less than one a day.  The last couple of weeks she has quit telling us. She'll just stop where she is, say "I pee" as she's peeing.  I am at my wits end with her and don't know what to do from here.  I don't know if I should go back to the take her every hour phase or what.  Once in a while she'll still tell us, but most of the time she prefers to pee on the floor.  It's been making me so angry lately that I've just had to put her in her room on her bed and leave the room for a while.

  • Sounds like she's just getting too into playing and forgets until it's too late! ?I wouldn't go back to every hour, but just keep tabs on how much she's had to drink and when she's going. ?If it's been a while, I would just ask her if she needs to go or tell her it's time to take a break and try to use the bathroom. ?Hang in there!
  • I've heard to set a timer every "X" number of minutes & condition them to go try when the timer goes off.  This rather than telling them yourself because it's very "2" to rebel against what mom & dad want.  Good luck.

Very true.  I'm pretty sure I have the most stubborn, strong-willed (and lately defiant) little girl ever to be created.  She does have her sweet moments, but two is a rough age.

  • I know that this is easier said than done but.. everything that I read about PT said to keep it positive even when the child is having accidents and even seems to be having them on 'purpose'. ?DD did awesome with PT but did regress a bit when ds was born. ?She would go right in front of the toilet and then would tell me that she just did not have time.. ?I would clean it up, clean her up without getting angry and just would remind her to go etc. ?After a couple of those, she was back to going by herself.

I would try and remind her every 30-60 minutes to go or when you think she may have to go.. ?did you use any kind of reward system when you first started? ?Maybe try the reward system again

    ?

Good luck.. I know how frustrating it can be:)?
