Re: gymboree play question?

  • We first took Ty to a preview class at around six months and decided it was something better suited for when he was confidently walking. He has been going for the last six-ish months and loves it!!

  • We went to the preview class.  We were already frequently Studio Grow so I was looking more for Music than a gym.  We also checked out Kindermusik and Music Together.  Of the three we decided on Music Together.  I was put off by all of the bright colors and overall business of the Gymboree class (we went to two).  I wasn't crazy about the fact that it was more or less a drop in situation so on any given day there would be a new or different set of kids (of course if you are joining with you friends that isn't an issue).  I also liked that in Music Together, children are OK to wander off and then come back.  At 2 and so on I think that children are more apt to sit in a circle or group and watch whereas as 10 months (when we were looking) it would have been a lot more work to keep chasing him or forcing him to sit with the group.  Kindermusik is also more structured than MT.  Given how active and what an explorer Pel? was, MT was the perfect fit.  Oh, I also didn't like that music (with instruments) was more money.  HTH.
