Anyone else having to take these courses for their agency requirements? We are having to take 3 courses and I just completed signing us up. We are taking The Conspicous Family, The Missing Pieces, and The Journey of Attachment. They also have two free courses on the adoption tax credit and lifebooks so I signed us up for those as well. Anyone else?
The website is www.adoptionlearningpartners.org if anyone is interested in checking it out.
Re: Adoption Learning Partners
My agency required 30 credit hours of education, but it came in all forms. For example, reading certain books counted as 2-3 credits each, watching certain films/documentaries, going to cultural events, etc. We had a worksheet to track our hours, which had to be spread out over several different topic categories.
As part of that, we took one Adoption Learning Partners course. We also worked through a similar program, "Eyes Wide Open," which I believe is put out by Children's Home Society & Family Services.
We took 4 or 5 ALP courses that were required by our agency...and they were totally worth it. I loved that our agency gave us so much information, it made us a lot better prepared than if we just threw our hats into the ring.
