Is this normal?

14 day old Connor has been nursing briefly (like 15 min) practically every hour on the hour today.  He's been really fussy too.  I dread tonight.

Previously he was nursing for 30-50 minutes straight every 2-4 hours.

What's up with that?  Is he sickly and not eating?  He did produce a terrific volume of poop this afternoon.  Allergies?  Am I making more milk so he doesn't need to nurse as long?

sounds like a growth spurt to me.

I think growth spurt too, also he is probably just getting more efficient at nursing as he gets older and wont have to nurse as long, but still is getting enough to eat.

When they hit a growth spurt they do cluster feeding - nursing many times in an hour. By doing this your breasts respond to his demand and you then produce enough to match the growth spurt.

Growth spurt! Kellymom.com says there is one between 7-14 days. Very normal. Connor will do this many times during his first year.

Did he skip a feeding or two last night?  When they start sleeping longer at night, they'll cluster feed during the day.  It could also be a growth spurt like the others mentioned.

It's the two week wakefulness!  At about 14 days old their brains want to grow and see and do things around them - he'll eat a bunch bunch bunch - then all of sudden he'll sleep then he's going to come out of the spurt with "new tricks!"  They grow so fast!

It's probably a growth spurt. I remember when DD would do that also.
