Count yourself really blessed if you are just now getting swollen ankles. Mine were awful from around 25 weeks on. It did get worse as it went and the worst was right after delivery. They should go down on their own like coffee bean said about 10 days after. If they don't your dr will prob prescribe you a water pill to get the remaining fluid off.
Just be sure to drink plenty of water and put them up as much as you can. I remember I couldn't even put mine up at your stage I was so flippin big. I had to do the splits if I wanted them up. Ha!!
Amy and I went through it at the exact same time (our kids are only a few days apart). I have a pic VERY similar to Amy's. I actually had to skip an award ceremony where I was given the top honors at my company because I couldn't wear any shoes other than slippers and I refused to go and meet the CEO that way!
It took mine about 3 weeks to go down. It actually got WORSE after the babies came. I was so swollen my feet itched from the skin stretching. Ice packs helped.
My hands and feet started swelling around 25 weeks and only got worse from there. I normally have really narrow feet and by the end they were pretty much double in size and even my ugly crocs were tight on my feet, but nothing else was fitting me. It didnt take long though after delivery for them to shrink back down to size. Hang in there, you are almost there!
My swelling started around week 25 and got worse as each day passed. I looked like I had Fred Flinstone feet, it was terrible. They hurt and itched sooo bad.
Mine started somewhere in the early 20s weeks and nothing seems to help. I keep my feet up, wear compression stockings, etc. Literally none of my shoes fit - I had to go buy men's slip ons at Wal-Mart. The compression stockings definitely help with the discomfort, but don't really seem to keep the swelling down at all.
My swelling started in my ankles a few weeks ago but it goes away after I keep my feet up for awhile when I get home from work. I have a feeling pretty soon it won't be going away when I put my feet up.
Re: Who else has/had swollen ankles and feet?
Sorry, I'm seriously laughing out loud.
My ankles got TERRIBLE at about where you are. It did get a little worse and went away about 10 days after the girls were born.
You can see my tree trunk ankles in this pic. I was 36wks here (and it was my bday!)....
