my mother- who is very very dear to me- is named Linda. I would like to potentially honor her if we have a girl in the child's middle name.
I don't really love her name, and Linda flows terribly with our last name and the names on our list. So I am looking for alternatives.
Sure- the obvious- is Lynn. but i can always remember her turning to me once after someone called her that and telling me she hates being called that. her middle name is Ann so we could use that, but I feel like then it's not really about her.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
I also thought about using Lindan for a boys middle name (not sure about the spelling)- but Nicholas honors both my maiden name and my grandfather so am torn.
Re: Can you help me think of versions of the name Linda??
I'm just throwing these out there..
Linann
Dalin
Lindy

Lindsay is a great name (Its mine, LOL). Anyway, don't name your kid Lindy. People will always think they misheard and say "who? Lindsay? Lindy? Like Lindsay without the say?"

The daughter of Duke's basketball coach is named Lindy - just an FYI.
My friend has a daughter named Linden and they call her Lindy. I think it is cute.
How about Linden for a girl, too. I see it on baby name lists all the time. And the Linden tree ... it would be a nice assocation.
What about Linnea?

I didn't say that - I am NOT a Duke fan. I was just throwing it out there, random fact.
I was thinking of Linden to honor my mother Linda too. It's currently not in the top 1000, but ironically the name is listed on the Freakonomcs book as a top 20 girls name in the year 2015. So apparently a few wealthy parents think it's a stylish name
ETA, just because those authors made a prediction about a name that could be popular in 7 years doesn't make it true. I still think it's a lovely name and haven't crossed it off my list.

Proud mama to a boys- 6/17/09 - a girl 2/23/11- and a boy 8/20/12
I went to Wake...Lindy actually went to Wake, too. It was a little weird.
My friends would certainly fit the upper class parents naming their kid Linden now ;P Wouldn't surprise me to see that name skyrocket over the next few years.
I have always loved the name Rosalinda.
I also went to school with a girl named Lorinda - that is a bit of a departure, but still close enough, I think.
I'm a little partial to this as well!
