I had a mock transfer before our first IVF. Does that qualify as a saline sonogram? It seems like they do the exact same thing for it. My new insurance is going to require it before I can get a referral so I was wondering what you all thought.
TIA

With a mock transfer they insert a catheter and measure the opening of the uterus. With a Saline sonogram they insert a catheter and insert saline to see the saline flow on the monitor to check for scar tissue or other abnormalities in the uterus. So they are 2 totally different things.
Neither one are painful. Good luck!
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

Precisely.

When I had my mock transfer done, they inserted the catheter first, but then they used saline so they could measure the size of my uterus and see if there where any polyps so they knew where to place the egg. I wonder if my RE does a combination. I meet with her next week for our DE consultation so I guess I will ask then.

As Krissy said, they are two separate procedures but they may have done them both at the same apointment. I had mine done together on two occasions. You could certainly check with them and see if they did both procedures.
