A coworker was thinking of this name and didnt choose it and for some reason I just loved it....I dont know why...I do like unique names Sayla Katherine is just so in my head. OR Tayte Rae....
It is not terrible, but it seems as though you are trying too hard to be original. I don't like those kinds of names. I can understand not wanting to name your child something that everyone else is going to name theres, but you can't control that. If my first name was Sayla I would go by Katherine. I just don't care for it and I think it would be a name that could easily be made fun of.
My sister's name is Tanta and it is a very unique name. She hated her name all through school because people made fun of her. She has finally grown to like it, but it has taken quite a few years for that.
Not really a fan, but I have seen Selah (a Hebrew name meaning pause and reflect) a lot lately as a baby name.
There is always a debate about the correct pronunciation (Say-lah, Seh-lah, See-la), etc but it is a common Hebrew word found over and over in the Bible.
How about the name Shyla? With the nn Shy? Sayla is too different for my taste. My FIL is from Boston, and while he would pronounce Sailor like Sayla...we would pronounce Sayla like Saylor. (An A at the end always turns into a 'r' sound.) If Tayte=Tate....I prefer Tate. GL!
oh- and i really thought Tayte was cute (not the spelling, but the name). I mentioned it to my husband and he said everyone would call the kid Taint- which apparently means the area between the balls and the butt on a man.
not to be a downer- cause i think it is cute, but these are the things i would want to know

I like this spelling and would consider naming my child Selah, but DH knows someone with a daughter named that. I dont think it sounds made up at all....because it isnt!
1. It sounds like "Sailor" without the "R" (For some reason, Sailor wouldn't bother me as much. . . Still nms, tho.)
2. It looks like someone said "I kind of like Kayla, but I want to be unique. Let's see - Bayla, Cayla, Dayla, Fayla. . ." and went through the alphabet for a different first sound. Kind of like what people do with -Aden names (Braden, Caden, Jaden, etc.)
Tayte just looks made up. Maybe Tate for a boy, but not Tayte (I don't like extra letters just to be special) for a girl.

Yeah, Sayla just sounds made up.
Why are you throwing the random "y" in Tayte? If you spelled it "Tate" I would like it better.
Both are terrible.

Ha! I was just thinking that!
Sayla's look good in uniform navigating the high seas.

?
I don't like "Sayla" because of two reasons:
