Birthing from Within

Has anyone taken these classes? It's the most convenient option for me (besides the hospital class). I would like to take a class covering natural birthing techniques, but I'm concerned these classes will require a lot of poetry reading and power crystals... It's not cheap (and not covered by my insurance), so I don't want to register and find out it's too touchy-feely. Anything I find on the web is pretty vague.

one, not my cup of tea so i cant be of help there, however, i am pretty sure insurance doesn't cover birthing classes regardless of technique taught.  could be wrong though.

I'm registered for a BFW class.  My sister took this series and loved it.  No crystals and poetry that I know of.  From my understanding there's a lot of focus on breathing and pain relief techniques.  I remember my sister saying they (moms-to-be and dads) had to keep their hands in a bowl of ice water for a ridiculously long time as one way of figuring out how you best cope with pain.  There's a Birthing From Within book you should check out before signing up though to see if it's something you want to explore more.

And FYI, my insurance pays for the standard hospital birthing class as well as several additional classes (like CPR, breastfeeding).
